Geocache Description:

Cache is magnetic box located at the Miše Dimitrijevića street, one of the bigest and the busiest streets of Grbavica.

In 19.century Grbavica was city`s periphery. Since the 1800. the Jewish graveyard is located in this part of the city, and since the 1860. Catholic`s graveyard as well. In the 20.century this part of the city started developing in an uprising speed so the arhitect Milan Cvetkov used the same urbanistic plan as the Sarajevo's settlement called Grbavica. The citizens seemed to like it so they adopted the name as well and It`s still in use.

Much like the other parts of Novi Sad in the last couple of years Grbavica got a fresh new, modern look. As it`s population grew old family houses were replaced with new modern residential buildings. Data from the 2010. shows that Grbavica had around 4000 citizens. Today it is very popular among the students, due to fairly reasonable rents yet its proximity to collage campus (since last year we even got a bus line 13. that goes straight to the campus), and to the center of the city (also because of the flat parties and cheap midnight taxies ;))

Until few years ago a trademark of this part of the city was the famous restaurant of Hungary cousin  called “Piroš Čizma”, located in the Lasla Gala street, but sadly it`s been closed. Today citizens of Novi Sad come to this part of the city for the pizza at Padrino’ş, pancakes at Disney’s, cakes at Vremeplov, beer at The Pub and karaoke at the Hogar.

For the last few years, since I`ve been living here, I heard a lot of complains- that it lost part of its spirit with modern mish mash buildings, that it lacks green surfaces and that it has the highest criminal rates in the city. Yet it still holds unique vibe that’s easy to get used to and fall in love with. Residents of Grbavica seem to know it well and so it still is one of the most popular parts of the city to live in.

Cache is located at quite urban and busy spot so some patience will be required smiley oh and BYOP! Happy Hunting!
