Park at The Kilngreen to start this walk, head north up the A7. Cache is close to the turnoff for MacDiarmid Memorial / Newcastleton
This "Muckle Monument" series will take you on a walk up to The "Monument" on Whita Hill (300m). Park at The Kilngreen. Whilst here you can find cache MTAF 1 - The Bandstand (GC6CXT5) which is the fist in a the MTAF series of caches. From the Kilngreen, head north along the A7, this cache is located just off the turn off for MacDiarmid Memorial/Newcastleton, just past the cafe on the right. Numbers 1-5 in this series are accessible by car, all others much be reached on foot. The obelisk monument commemorates the life and achievements of Sir John Malcolm (1769-1833), a distinguished soldier statesman and historian
