I've looked at the caching map for far too long wondering what this river has to offer. I admit I have yet to be on this river, never launched at the waypoint, never been to the end point, and heck, I don't even have a kayak!!!!!! But I'm stubborn and have no fear of the unknown and always make things work. I'll figure out my PWC and please do the same to enjoy all that this river has to offer. I've heard and read only good things and look forward to sharing the experience with others. According to cyber information, the paddle is somewhere in the vicinity of 10 miles downstream at a current of 3MPH. The goal of the trip is to clean up the river and being in nature. I have no idea how long the paddle will last and that ultimately is up to anyone individually. The event starts at 8AM, we can stage any cars necessary up to Gores Landing, return back to the launch point and leave from there. We should be on the water by 9AM I would imagine depending on how many cars and humans need to arrange staging. This is a long paddle, but many stops along the way and a downsteam current should make it manageable. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, a hat and anything you feel necessary to survive this trip. You may encounter any number of animals along the way as well. Then again, heck I have no idea so who knows!!!! The goal of the CITO is to clean up the river, find caches and have fun doing it. If that happens, we have done our part in life.
I have included a few links below that provide information attesting to my claims above and background on the Ocklawaha River.
