Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a geo-art series dedicated to interesting facts about California. The caches in this series are all within the La Purisima Mission hiking trail areas. Bring a pen/pencil to sign log sheets, tweezers for any tiny caches, small items to trade, and hiking necessities (food, water, sunscreen, etc.). Beware of poisonous plants and wildlife. Please take care of all caches and replace exactly as found to ensure they last a while.

Chico, a Sacramento Valley town, has had rocks, fish and meteorites rain down on it.  In 1921, an unexplained plague of stones rained down on two warehouses next to eachother.  It is thought that someone with a machine must have caused the rocks to be propelled through the air to that location.  The police followed one suspect, but even when he wasn't around, the rocks kept coming.

On August 20th of 1878, the local paper reported that a large number of small fish fell on the streets of Chico, despite clear skies.  Seven years later, a meteorite weighing several tons fell just east of Chico.
