Geocache Description:

The last cache in this short walking trail of 9, (for the moment).

"Strathnairn" was one of the original Canberra homesteads. The land was originally granted to explorer, Charles Sturt, and over time became one of the most prominent farming properties along the Murrumbidgee River. In 1974 the land was resumed by the ACT Government. Since them, it has provided art space to local artists under a variety of arrangements. It is now public property, free and open to all visitors to visit between 10am and 4pm. Access is off Stockdill Drive. Around the original homestead buildings, the grounds are spectacularly peaceful, with views to the Brindabella's. Changes to the boundaries on 5 April 2016 made new land available adjacent to the homestead for public space, and further afield for a new suburb which will be called Strathnairn. This small geocaching trail provides an easy walk and ready finds with unique GC's.
