Geocache Description:

Here's a GREAT spot on Rocky Fork Creek, with relatively easy access, that is almost irresistible as a swimming hole. I say "almost" irresistible because, if you've ever tried it, you know just how bone-achingly COLD the water can be, even in the middle of summer. Nevertheless, this is such a popular swimming spot among locals that it has its own name: "The Blue Hole." Maybe they call it "Blue" because of the color of your skin when you swim here. Especially nice is the fact that there is another, also irresistible swimming hole immediately downstream of this one. So if you can handle the cold, you get two-in-one!

When I found this spot, I bought wetsuits for the family so we could have a leisurely swim here without freezing our you-know-whats off!

Above, geocachers beauxeault and WifeWonder, swimming with nary a shiver.

L to R: Geocachers skyguy 777, beauxeault, and xoyika. Someone remarked that our wetsuits looked like superhero suits (no capes!), so we called ourselves The Incomprehensibles.

The cache is a medium-to-large plastic jar (once held like, 5 lbs. or so of JellyBellies!) that is camouflaged on one end with sticks and moss and such. GPS signal might be a little iffy here, so if you need help, from the swimming hole, head downstream to the right of the big boulder (the stream goes to the left of this boulder). Once you get just past the boulder, facing downstream, look for a tree at about 2 o'clock on the edge of the small wooded area. It's a medium-sized tree with a hollow trunk and roots raised above the rocks. I originally designed the container to go in the hollow trunk, but then discovered it was too big, so it ended up under the roots..
