In 1985, Hurricane Kate hit Tallahasse directly causing a great deal of damage. One casualty that did not succumb until August of 1986 was the venerable May Oak which witnessed the crowning of May Queens for more than 100 years. All that is left now is the stump. This being May Day it seemed fitting to have an event remembering this mighty oak.
