The Thanon Sukhumvit is one of the most important streets in Bangkok, and also an important major road which continues more than 400 km further to southeast to the border to Cambodia. It is the longest road in Thailand. In the Soi 107 it leaves the city of Bangkok and leads on a distance of about 400 km in parallel with the Thai golf coast by the provinces of Samut Prakan, Chachoengsao, Chonburi (including the city of Pattaya), Rayong. Sukhumvit Road is named after the fifth chief of the Department of Highways, Phra Bisal Sukhumvit. It is one of the four major highways of Thailand, along with Phahonyothin Road (Route 1), Mittraphap Road (Route 2) and Phetkasem Road (Route 4).
