Geocache Description:

A quick Cache 'n Dash with easy access.  It will become part of a series around Redlynch.

Quavey Road

This cache is at Read's Corner, Redlynch.
The thatched cottage at the foot of Goggs Lane was Mrs Read's shop, selling general goods and lace.  On the opposite corner was a forge.
Harthill Drove, the un-made road to the left of the bus shelter, and Quavey Road were part of the salt road from Pennington on the Solent to Salisbury Plain and beyond.
The nearby Quavey Well was the reliable year-round source of water for residents, travellers and animals.  It was in regular use probably from Roman times and through to the 1950s.

The cache is a 35mm film cannister, and we called this cache Quavey Road rather than Reads Corner for a good reason. As it is a micro, you will need to bring your own pen.

Polite Request. Please wrap the log sheet up in the zip-lock bag carefully, and replace it as found so the next shower doesn’t make it soggy. Thanks!
