Geocache Description:

This cache is under the District Scout HQ series.


Hong Kong Scouts has been divided into 5 Regions and 44 Districts.
Each Region manage several districts and the District Council manage the Scout Groups within that district.

This cache is located at the District Scout Headquarters of the Tuen Mun East District & Tuen Mun West District, which are under the New Territories Region of the Scout Association of Hong Kong.

In 1971, there was a Scout Jamboree was held at Tuen Mun (where the Tai Hing Estate is located now) to celebrate the Diamond Jubliee of Scouting in Hong Kong. To commemorate this Jamboree, a two-storey building was built at Fu Tei(虎地) in Tuen Mun by the Scout Association and was named "Diamond House" and became the the District Headquarters of the Tuen Mun District. With the new estates built in Tuen Mun, Numbers of Scouts raised rapidly. In 1990, there are more than 80 scout groups within the Tuen Mun District. For better service to the Scout groups, The Tuen Mun District was splited into Tuen Mun East District and Tuen Mun West District on 1 May 1990.

Nowadays, both districts are still growing strong. Tuen Mun East District has 56 Scout Groups and the Tuen Mun West District has 66 Scout groups. And the Diamond House is now shared by the Tuen Mun East District and Tuen Mun West District as their District Scout Headquarters.

District Badges
Tuen Mun East District Badge

The current district badge of Tuen Mun East District is the 2nd generation of the district badge and was designed in 1999. The district badge is a rectangle badge in yellow background with purple edge. The Design of the district badge is a compass. the 5 different colors of the "pointers" represent the 5 sections in Scouting, (Orange: Grasshopper, Yellow: Cub Scouts, Green: Scouts, Brown: Venture Scouts, Blue: Rover Scouts.)

 

Tuen Mun West District Badge

The district badge of the Tuen Mun West District is a rectangle badge with the special elements within the District.
the Green hill (Castle Peak), the Tuen Mun Ferry Pier and the Light rail. The waves under the pier forms a smiley face represents everyone in the district are having fun.
