Geocache Description:

Formonthills is a young woodland with lots to offer.  A total of 80,000 trees have been planted with the help of the local community, with wildflower meadows, wetland areas, abundant wildlife, several circular walks, and a commanding position offering spectacular views.  Don't forget to look out for sculptures along the way.  A mix of hard path and grass tracks take you on an exploration of this hillside with excellent views.

Campanula rotundifolia is a herbaceous perennial flowering plant in the bellflower family Campanulaceae.

These fragile nodding bells of Harebells are one of the prettiest flowers to spot, appearing in hedgerows, grasslands, hillsides, sand dunes and cliffs. They flower between July and September, mainly on dry mostly undisturbed, ground, but are tolerant of all kinds of habitats. Regularly visited by bumblebees and Honey Bees, providing an autumnal source of nectar.

A lovely delicate flower, sometimes called the Scottish Bluebell and also known by several other names including blawort, hair-bell, lady's thimble, witch's bells, and witch's thimbles, although I would prefer fairy bells or fairy thimbles making them sound less sinister.

The Song of the Harebell Fairy

O bells, on stems so thin and fine!
No human ear
Your sound can hear,
O lightly chiming bells of mine!

When dim and dewy twilight falls,
Then comes the time
When harebells chime
For fairy feasts and fairy balls.

They tinkle while the fairies play,
With dance and song,
The whole night long,
Till daybreak wakens, cold and grey,
And elfin music fades away.
