Geocache Description:

Formonthills is a young woodland with lots to offer.  A total of 80,000 trees have been planted with the help of the local community, with wildflower meadows, wetland areas, abundant wildlife, several circular walks, and a commanding position offering spectacular views.  Don't forget to look out for sculptures along the way.  A mix of hard path and grass tracks take you on an exploration of this hillside with excellent views.

Lychnis flos-cuculi. A less spotted delicate proud flower spotted peeping amongst grassland as it gently trembles in the breeze. Not unlike the Red campion, yet the paler delicate pink flowers of Ragged-Robin can be easily distinguished having long split petals giving it the 'ragged' name. They grow in damp meadows, wet pastures land, marshes or under open woodlands.
Well liked by bumblebees, butterflies and Honey Bees feeding on the nectar it produces.

Ragged-Robin is a perennial plantThe leaves are paired, with the lower leaves spoon-shaped and stalked. The middle and upper leaves are linear-lanceolate with pointed apexes. All of the leaves are untoothed. The stems have barbed hairs pointing downward and these hairs make the plant rough to the touch. Ragged Robins bloom from May to August, occasionally later and are found all over the UK.

Ragged Robin
by Elizabeth Godley

Rags and tatters,
Tatters and rags,
A split in my coat
And a patch on my bags—
My vest is torn
And outside in.
Can anyone lend me
A safety pin?,

Rags and tatters,
Darns and tears,
I'm all to pieces
And nobody cares—
My hat blew away
In yesterday's wind,
My braces are broken,
No shoe can I find.

Rags and tatters,
Tatters and rags,
Bootlaces, buttonhooks,
Tapes, and tags
Might keep me together
For one more day—

You must throw me away
