Geocache Description:

Could you please replace as found with the stones on top and around the cache this will stop it falling out on the road as the last container did. Thank you.

AAn Amphiptere (also called Amphithere, Amphitere, or Phipthere) is a type of winged serpent found in European heraldry. Throughout Europe, the amphiptere was widely feared, so any family that displayed it on their coat of arms would be perceived as particularly fearsome in battle.

Amphipteres generally were said to have greenish-yellow feathers, a serpentine body similar to a lindworm, bat-like green wings with feathered bone, and an arrow-tipped tail much like a wyvern's. Others are described as entirely covered in feathers with a spiked tail, bird-like wings, and a beak-like snout. Even more uncommon is the description of one with legs. Despite the origin of the word, amphipteres can be found all over the world predating their European counterpart. For example, Ancient Egypt has many amphipteres, and the Mesoamerican Plumed Serpent Quetzalcoatl sometimes takes the form of the amphiptere.

. The cache is a clip top container covered in camo tape. It can be found on a single track country road 200mtrs from the village of Pen-y-coedcae. Just above the town of Pontypridd.
