The fun thing about small towns is you have new homes juxtaposed against old farms. One of my favourite examples is found by the Didsbury High School. This cache is a nod to him, the old farmer I have never met. His old farm is wedged between the school and a retirement home, so for obvious reasons I cannot place the cache nearby the property.
The old farmer, as it turns out, owned not only the property his farm still sits on to this day, but he also owned everything east of the cemetery (including what is now Deer Coulee and the High School), to the town lagoons (near Highway 2A), and as far south as Rosebud Valley.
He sold his property bit by bit to the town, keeping the jewel in the middle for himself, and although some consider it an eyesore, most in town enjoy the old buildings on the property and the random animals he keeps.
