This is a reincarnation of an archived cache that was placed years several years ago. Intentions were to replace the old cache with a new one near the Devil Tree (http://www.weirdus.com/states/florida/local_legends/devils_tree/)but while looking for an appropriate place to hide it, an interesting discovery was made. Oak Hammock park has never been developed and has remained in its natural state for as long as PSL has been aound so it was quite interesting to find old ruins and structure foundations hidden back among the oak and palm trees in the woods. According the the Port St. Lucie Historical society, before development of the city the area was used for cattle grazing and these structures maybe related to these activities. aluminim siding/ roof materials were seen scattered around the area and what appears to be a large earthen mound was seen close by. There are at least three distinct structures in the area and dating estimates range from the late 1920s-1950s
There is evidence of (most likely) kids drinking beer and littering the area with old soda cans. upon placing the cache alot of trash was packed out. If possiable please bring a trash bag and remove trash also. take care not to remove any of the structures or old building materials.
