Geocache Description:

The Blue Cohosh grows near the cache. Check the trail map, as it can be confusing. Stay on the red trail, but be aware that it splits several times. It's black on the map, red on the trees.

"

The Blue Cohosh has been used as a medicinal plant by Many Native American tribes, and later European herbologists and mid-wives. They would use this herb in conjunction with other herbs and fluids for abortive and contraceptive purposes.

From the single stalk rising from the ground, there is a single, large, three-branched leaf plus a fruiting stalk. The bluish-green leaflets are tulip-shaped, entire at the base, but serrate at the tip.

It is found in hardwood forest of the eastern United States, and favors moist coves and hillsides, generally in shady locations, in rich soil. It grows in eastern North America, from Manitoba and Oklahoma east to the Atlantic Ocean.

The cache is a micro pill bottle, camoed and tied in. Push and turn. BYOP and please be careful with the log roll and its rubber band, so it will fit easily in the plastic little zip lock. Without the combination it will be very hard for the next cacher to get the log out of the bottle. No tweezers please, they kill the plastic.
