Geocache Description:

The cache series is designed to take you on a journey through some of the history and eventual amalgamation of the St Leonards and Indented Head Fire Brigades.

This is a quick park and grab along the beautiful foreshore of Indented Head. Be warned- this is a very popular area for holiday makers during Summer, so stealth is definitely required!

In about 1957, thanks to some funds from the CFA and donations from the few local residents of Indented Head, an ex-army ‘Blitz buggy’ (with four wheel drive) was purchased from the Army Disposals and fitted with a steel water tank to the chassis together with brackets to secure the hoses and knap sacks, rakes and beaters.

At this stage, the local members of the Brigade numbered around 6, who carried out burning fire breaks to surrounding farming properties, as well as attending the occasional grass fire.  On one occasion, with the blitz buggy was full with water, access had to be gained to a paddock where a grassfire was burning.  The truck was difficult to steer when full with water, and careered into some nearby trees- taking out the 2 side mirrors and a wind screen wiper!

You are looking for a small sistema container that has the actual themed cache inside which is designed to stay in the container.  **PAY PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE THEMED CACHE ITEM - THE LOG IS INSIDE IT** Happy hunting!
