Geocache Description:

Congratulations to TheGeoSleuth on your FTF. You look good in the hat!

The container holding the log at stage two can be removed from the zip ties to open and sign. It's a tight fit, but you can remove and return it as found. Thank you.

Do not seek this cache at the listed coordinates - Those are for parking. The true coordinates for this cache are hidden in the hint. However, if you wish to do this cache in true letterbox style, please do not check the hint.

This is a two stage Letterbox cache.  The first stage is for those who like to trade stamps. To obtain the smiley, you must sign the second stage.

The first stage has a stamp/ink and stamp book.  If you don’t have a stamp, don't worry, you may draw a picture, or do nothing at all.  The second and final stage is a micro hidden nearby (same coordinates, but over 25 feet away).  BYOP

Intrigued by another letterbox in the area, I read up on letterboxing and decided to place a letterbox myself.  I even carved the stamp out of one of my old school erasers.  It’s not very intricate, but it fits my caching name.  Parking is at the end of Lingle Road at the coordinates listed.

To find the cache:  Take the path going counterclockwise around the lake. If you can not find the trail-head, find the "LIFE JACKET ZONE" and stand in the middle of it. Put your back to the lake and walk about 32 paces, then look left. You should see the trail-head. There should be a dilapidated barbwire fence on your right; you will also pass an old gate on your right. You will notice that this trail is marked with small white squares (diamonds). At the first intersection, go left.  You may see a few logs in a hole and a cone.  Please avoid falling into the hole.  You’ll go up a hill and down a hill and past a water hazard - could be quite hazardous at certain times of the year and after precipitation.  Continue straight at the grassy cross path – you should now be going rather steeply uphill.  Before the summit, you will need to search for a really great climbing tree.  This tree will distinguish itself from all other trees around.  It is about 20 paces left from the trail and can be seen from the trail.

You will notice a lot of no trespassing signs. DO NOT venture off any trails to the right. As long as you stay on the trail or to your left while going to the cache, you will be fine.

This is where the fun begins...  At the base of that tree, is stage one, containing the stamp, ink pad and stamp book – these are NOT trade items.  Located a short distance away is the second and final stage – containing just a log.  You MUST SIGN THE SECOND STAGE to obtain the smiley. The stamp and stamp book at stage one are just for fun.

Stage two contains a hat for the FTF

Note: The cache is not on private property, nor do you need to hike through private property to get to it.

As with any cache, I am not forcing you to search for/find either stage.  Please do so at your own risk.  If you bring your children, please keep a close watch on them as the area can be tricky.  This cache is NOT recommended at night.  This cache is NOT recommended in adverse conditions.

Again, I will state, there is no cache at the posted coordinates.

Please return everything as found.  ENJOY!!!

ONE MORE TIME: This is a multi-stage letterbox.  The first stage is at the base of the tree the second and final stage is at the nearby final stage.  The first stamp book is just for fun. You must sign the second stage in the field to obtain your smiley on geocaching.com

If you submit a “found it” log without signing the second stage in the field, your log will be deleted.  If your log is deleted, please feel free to resubmit a “found it” log after signing the second/final stage in the field.  Feel free to submit a “write note” log if you only find stage one.
