Geocache Description:

"Buildings of the past"

This is a series of caches that was started by Team_Macdonald and Rayzr2 to remember old buildings that once had a purpose in their day and are now either, abandoned and forgotten or no longer used as they used to be.

This cache is placed at an old abandoned building on SH1 between Ashburton and Hinds, This building is now part of the historic buildings and is a part of our local history.

This building in it's day was used as a local drop off and load point for the railway, and was used for the transport and distribution of Lime from some of the Lime works and lime kilns up at the canterbury mountains.

It is now left abandoned and forgotten, and left for the pigeons to make it their home. To some it may be an eyesore on the side of the road, but for others and especially myself, these buildings are part of our history and I can only imagine what it may have been in its day.

Cache is a 1 litre sistema contains all the usuals.

Please be careful as this is a 100k area and is SH1 so a very busy road
