Biserica fortificata Hosman - Holzmengen Traditional Cache

[EN] Hosman, Hozman earlier (in Saxon dialect Hultsmänjen, Hültsmanjen, Hultsmonen, in German Holzmengen, Holzmannthal, in Hungarian Holcmány) is a village in Sibiu county.
The fortification was built on a hill and surrounded a Romanesque church built around 1270. Originally it had three naves, an altar apse and a bell tower with five levels.The late Romanesque portal was made by German and Austrian master masons from Alba Iulia. The church is surrounded by two wall precincts. The tower gate, with three levels and defended by a Hers, is located in the northwest, place where the walls of the two precincts meet. The classicist altar was executed in 1803-1804 and is the work of Johann Krempels, the central panel representing the crucified Christ. The shrine is surrounded by columns and a crown of rays, at the base of the altar there is a Latin inscription. The pulpit was made in 1804 and in the vestry there is the tomb of priest Thomas Fronius from 1712. In 1786 the organ is fitted with manual and 10 registers, and in 1807 Samuel Matz built the organ from today that has 8 registers is then repaired by János Mesney of Târgu Mures in 1972-1973. The large bell was cast in 1911, and the small one in 1930.

[RO] Hosman, mai demult Hozman (în dialectul săsesc Hultsmänjen, Hultsmanjen, Hultsmonen, în germană Holzmengen, Holzmannthal în maghiară Holcmány), este o localitate în judetul Sibiu, Transilvania.
Fortificaţia a fost ridicată la poalele dealului şi înconjura o biserică romanică ridicată în jurul anului 1270. La început avea trei nave, o absidă a altarului şi o clopotniţă cu cinci niveluri. Portalul romanic târziu a fost construit după modelul Catedralei Sfântul Ştefan din Viena de meşteri pietrari germani sau austrieci veniţi de la Alba Iulia. Capitelurile portalului din Hosman au fost decorate cu lileci, himere şi capete de oameni. La sfârşitul secolului al 18-lea, portalul a fost mascat cu un portic de protejare a sculpturilor, fapt ce duce şi la diminuarea calitaţii expunerii lor. Cele doua nave laterale ale bisericii au fost demolate în anul 1794. La nivelul cinci al clopotniţei există un orologiu care are limbile în forma unei mâini şi respectiv a unei baghete cu stea în vârf. Fortificaţia bisericii evanghelice din Hosman este constituită din două incinte de ziduri circulare care înconjoară lăcaşul de cult. Turnul - poartă de intrare este înalţat pe trei niveluri şi are prevăzut în partea de nord-vest o hersă de apărare în zona de confluenţă a celor două incinte delimitate de zidurile de apărare. Zidurile incintei au o înălţime de 7 - 8 metri din care 3 metri sunt din piatră, restul fiind renovate cu caramida şi piatra. Incinta a doua are prevăzute două turnuri, cel din sud-vest fiind pentagonal, astăzi având rol de pavilion al casei parohiale. Cel din sud-est este deteriorat, din el păstrându-se azi doar nivelurile inferioare.

[DE] In alten Dokumenten trägt die Ortschaft mal den Namen Holzmenia (1319), mal Holczmang (1494), was auf Holz und "mangi" (Menge) hinweisen kann, also Holzmengen bedeutet.
Das romanische Bauwerk wurde um 1270 errichtet. Es bestand aus einer dreischiffigen Basilika, einem mit Apsis versehenen Chor und einem fünfgeschossigen Glockenturm. Einige Baumeister samt Gehilfen aus Wien, die in Weissenburg (Alba Iulia) keine Arbeit gefunden hatten, suchten ihr Glück im Hinterland und gelangten nach Holzmengen, wo sie das Hauptportal nach dem Vorbild des Wiener Staphansdoms errichteten. Die Säulenkapitelle sind Chimären, Menschen- und Fledermausköpfen verziert. Das Gesamtportal wurde Ende des 18.Jh mit einer Vorhalle verkleidet, die das Portal schützt, jedoch die ursprüngliche Schönheit schmälert. 1794 wurden die beiden Seitenschiffe entfernt. Die Kirche wird von einer doppelten Ringmauer umgeben. Der Eingangsturm ist dreigeschossig, mit einem Fallgatter ausgestattet und steht im NW an der Schnittstelle der beiden Mauern.

A templom építési idejét az előző századra teszik, mégpedig 1270-re. A román stílus jegyében háromhajósnak épült. Keleti végében a szentélynégyszög után a félköríves apszis csatlakozik. Nyugati homlokzatán vaskos torony áll, amelyhez késöbb előcsarnokot építettek, de megőrizték a díszes román kaput. A török-tatár támadások viharaiban az oldalhajók elpusztultak és részben a szentély is, amelyet a barokk korban átépítettek. A kivételesen díszes nyugati kapu fejezeteit egymással szembeállított sárkányok és stilizált levelek díszítik. A nyugati falon megmaradt a ciszterci hatást őrző nagy, nyílásos kőlapból faragott kerek ablak. A torony alól 3 árkádos nyíláson van bejárat a hajókba. A templomot 16. századi kettős várfal veszi körül. A belsőt két bástyatorony erősíti, a külső fal két védőtornya csak részben maradt fenn.
