Geocache Description:

[EN] Daia (Thalheim, Dolmány), is a small village east of Sibiu.
Similar to the one from Cisnadioara, the church devoted to Saint Mary of Daia was built in the 13th century. It underwent transformations over time, but from the initial period it preserved the outer walls of the aisles, the rectangular pillars, the buttresses, the square choir and some decorative features from the late Gothic period. A keystone from the choir mentions the year 1451, probably the year of some rehabilitation works. The main entrance to the church is through an edicule portal built in the 17th century. The altar is from the beginning of the 18th century, and the font must have been made in the workshop of Jakobus, who also made the font in Sighisoara in the second half of the 15th century. The painted wooden stalls are from the 18th century and the organ with 22 divisions was placed above the altar. The fortification around the church is a simple oval curtain wall, made in two stages, using different materials. Initially the wall was made of stone and the belfry flanking the gate was made of brick. The initial tower, made of brick, can be related to the Romanesque architecture from the West Plain of Transylvania. The actual belfry, which is separated from the church and was built in a different style, can be included in the central and eastern European Baroque.
For various reasons, the cache isn't near the church (N 45° 48.140 E 024° 16.600).

Din diverse motive cache-ul nu este lângă biserică (N 45° 48.140 E 024° 16.600), ci la intresectia cu drumul ce duce acolo.
