Geocache Description:

Welcome to Bellevue, Nebraska's Goldenrod Park!

### Congrats to JAB# / Monty on the FTF! ###

Goldenrod Park is a 5 acre park in Northwest Bellevue, Nebraska which features playgrounds, picnic areas, and a tennis court.  The site of the park and surrounding neighborhood was formerly a horse farm.  After a group of investors bought the land and built the homes which surround the park, they maintained the private park until donating it to the city.  The large building in the center of the park, which houses city Parks and Works personel and equipment, was the farm's horse barn!

This cache is the first placed by me, and is also a tribute to a cache previously located in the park "Follow Me On Twitter? Chirp Chirp Chirp" (GC34JBC) which was archived by its creator KGeeBee.  After I moved into the neighborhood, I "discovered" the original cache - a camo tupperwear container with a magnetic alarm - one day while clearing weeds at its location at the base of the park's East entrance sign.  As a muggle, I had no idea what it was, and destroyed / disposed of it.  Months later my cousin, ItsATrav, came to visit and wandered around with his GPS looking for the cache.  When he became confused at being unable to find a relatively easy cache, I explained what I had found there - he confirmed it was the cache!  He explained the concept to me, and, being an Eagle Scout, I was instantly interested because it reminded me of orienteering races I used to participate in with my troop.  I signed up for an account on c:geo that day, and Travis helped me rebuild and restore the cache in its proper place. My kids enjoy joining me in looking for caches around Bellevue, South Omaha, and Nebraska as we go on our adventures!

A few notes about the Park, Cache, and Rules:

While the park may seem isolated, it is really quite busy.  There are several schools in the area and city employees at the main building.  So please be aware of prying eyes - remember, the prior cache had been muggled!

The park closes at 10 PM - nighttime caches will not be considered valid.

The parking lot, which has an entrance to the West (off 42nd street), has a fixed barrier.  Parking on 41st street near the East entrance is ok, but please respect the neighbors and do not drive through the grass to turn around to exit.

Due to the isolated, no outlet street, kids do ride bikes and scooters all hours of the evening - please drive slowly and keep your eyes up - you can check your GPS when you park!

Please return the cache EXACTLY as it was placed to avoid detection - you'll see what I mean when you locate it!

Best of luck, and if you see me outside (the red brick house at the end of the street near the East sign) - come say hi!
