Belonging to all the Romanic churches of Créonnais, the church of Lignan establishes(constitutes) a small jewel by his(her) remarkable state, the purity of its lines, the quality of its capitals(big tops) and the beauty of its heritage(holdings).
She(It) is dedicated to Saint Eulalie for more than 600 years, because since 1398, she was already called Saint Eulalie de Launhanum in the list(naming) of parishes.
His(Her,Its) construction began in 1111, with the creation to Lignan of a priory, while the Romanesque art was for its peak. It was intended to become abbey, by the way(bias) in particular of donation by Louis VII the Capetian, the husband(spouses) of Alienor d' Aquitaine. But the financial hazards reduced to the end of the 12th century this ambition in a parish. Endowed with the right(law) of grave, she(it) gathers(collects) monolithic graves today.
Lignan of Bordeaux has the peculiarity to present visible monolithic graves of the roadside. Their origin goes back to the Middle Ages
