Geocache Description:

A small container close to The Beck in Kelsey Park so if with young children please make sure they stay away from water's edge. This is a really pretty spot ripe for a cache.

This cache is right near a part of River Beck that is above ground in Kelsey Park. A lot of this river is underground and is a tributary that flows to the River Pool at Castor Park and then onto the Thames. This park is locked at night and if you are going with kids please make sure they are away from the edge of water!
Copper Hazel - leaves purple, in many selections turning deep spinach green by mid-summer. Conditions in summer, particularly good rainfall, determine the number of leaves included in the buds. In autumn, the tree builds the reserves that will sustain it into spring. Given good conditions, a bud can produce a shoot with up to ten or more leaves. The terminal bud emits a hormonal substance in the spring that halts the development of additional buds. This tendency, though very strong at the beginning of their existence, becomes weaker in older trees. This coppiced tree has been cut a long time ago to make many stems so there is space in the centre.
