Geocache Description:

Gold Mining cache takes you to the Northern boundaries of Edmonton. Sturgeon County's trails were used by old-timers to find gold. You might get lucky!

This cache takes you to Lamoureux, a hamlet within Sturgeon County on the northern shore of the North Saskatchewan River, opposite the City of Fort Saskatchewan. Go and take an adventure through time! This cache leads you to an area where gold mining was an important occupation in the old days. There was gold mining along the river banks especially at La Pointe-aux-pins. Most of the old-timers had their try at it. Gold sold at $16.00 an ounce. One season would produce $8,000.00, and the workers would average between $2 and $6 a day: enough to buy groceries.
