Geocache Description:

This cache  takes you to the Northern boundaries of Edmonton. Sturgeon County has great trails and views of the North Saskatchewan River!

This cache takes you to Lamoureux,  a hamlet  within Sturgeon County on the northern shore of the North Saskatchewan River, opposite the City of Fort Saskatchewan.

The North Saskatchewan River has flooded its bank a number of times since settlers began documenting occurrences. It was the flood of 1915, however, that was the most dramatic and devastating. It was the combination of heavy rains and spring snowmelt that caused the river to rise to unprecedented levels. Although low lying neighbourhoods in central Edmonton suffered the worst damage as a result of the flood water levels, in Lamoureux were high enough that boating was the only means of transportation along the road. At its peak, flood water surrounded the church just behind you!.
