The cache is the third of my caches that you will find hidden along the main trail (Bloubos Trail). The cache is hidden within close proximity to the Pools. This is a nice little area to relax and have a few snacks. The cache contains two small plastic containers, one for the logbook and pencil and the other for adding some swag if you wish to do so.
The 650ha Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve, just 11km south of downtown Johannesburg, is an oasis of calm amid the bustle of the city. Among the largest nature reserves in the Johannesburg metropolitan area, Klipriviersberg (meaning “stone river mountain”) was proclaimed in 1984 to preserve the area’s rich biodiversity and archaeological sites.
The reserve is home to more than 600 plant and 150 bird species. Zebra, red hartebeest, black wildebeest, blesbok, duiker, springbok and mountain reedbuck roam freely in the reserve.

Reason for 3 Rating:
The hike to the cache is along a relatively flat trail of either just under 4km, or a few hundred meters, depending on which entrance you choose (I do however recommend the main entrance and the longer hike mainly for secure parking reasons). You will be able to get to within +/- 30 m of the cache before the real challenge starts. Here you are faced with a very steep rock face that you will need to climb up. Once at the top of the rock face, your search will begin, and with the cache well blended in to the environment, you may overlook it. But don't be put off by this rating, the views from GZ are more than worth the time and effort it takes to get to GZ.
