Cada dos o tres años, visito a mi oftalmólogo para revisar cómo tendrán que ser mis próximos anteojos, según mi vista actual. Le conté que me he sentido un poco alicaído, ya que cada vez que voy a su consulta mi vista empeora más y más. Y últimamente... bueno, el mundo a mi alrededor se ha empezado a poner más gris. Empecé a tener problemas para reconocer los colores y eso afectó cómo me siento. El doctor me dijo: "Bueno, tu visión parece normal, pero si te sirve de ayuda, deberías tratar de ver la vida con lentes color de rosa. Te sentirás más positivo sobre tu vida en general." Después me dio este lindo dibujo de una rosa, y añadió: "Algunos de mis pacientes lo pasan mucho peor que tú. Ni siquiera son capaces de ver esta rosa sin la ayuda de unos anteojos muy especiales y costosos. Quizás alguno de ellos de ayude a sentirte mejor."
Y tenía razón.
Every two or three years, I visit my optometrist to check what specs should my future glasses have, based on my current vision. I told him I was feeling a bit gloom, as everytime I visit him he tells me my vision is worse. And lately... well, the world around me has started looking greyer. I've started having trouble recognizing colors and that affects how I feel. He told me: "Well, your eyes look normal to me, but if it helps, maybe you should try wearing rose-colored glasses. You'll feel more positive about your life in general." Then he gave me this lovely picture of a rose, and added: "Some of my patients have it way worse than you. They can't even see this rose without some special and expensive glasses. Maybe one of them can help you feel better."
And he was right.
