Just learnt Lawrence was Otago's first gold-rush town, in the Tuapeka District, it was originally named The Junction, and then later renamed after the British war hero who defended Lucknow during the 1857 Indian Mutiny.
As with anything it is always good to set up or rest at a Junction... so I plan on the way to Cromwell stop here 10.30- 11.30am. If you have no other plans for this day come along - bring bikes or picnics and go caching on the rail trail or take a stroll round Gabriels Gulley.
Date: Saturday 28th May 2016
Time: 10.30-11.30am
Where: By BBQ cover area on the layby just by the central end of town.
Note toilets and cafes are a in town on the bend of the SH....
If you are looking to do a day trip caching here but have no wheels of your own please post a note and maybe someone else can offer you a seat in their cachemobile :)
