The WRGT is maintained by volunteers, including a volunteer bike patrol that also helps to maintain the trail by offering information and assistance to those using the trail. Please do your part and CITO as you Walk or Bike your way along the trail.
Note: No motorized vehicles are allowed on the trail (other than snowmobiles during the winter months).
There are many bridges and sites to see along the way. Benches are located in various places along the trail for you to stop and take a break. For the most part the trail is well shaded and also has a nice pavilion area at the Lampson Rd staging area in Austinburg. Other parking areas are located at West Ave in Ashtabula, Woodman Ave in Ashtabula, Old Austinburg Rd in Saybrook, SR 307 in Austinburg, Eagleville Jefferson Rd, Station St in Rock Creek and Penniman Rd in Orwell just south of US 322.
The 2016 edition of the WRGT GeoTrail features approximately 150 geocaches, utilizing a variety of cache types, containers, sizes, and D/T ratings. The geocaches have been published by a number of local geocachers collectively known as the "Western Reserve Geocachers". The souvenir geocoins have been funded by the Ashtabula County Convention & Visitors Bereau.
Please note, the Geocoins are not expected to be available until July 2016.
In order to earn the Geocoin you must complete the whole 26 miles of trail and write down 2 code words from each mile of trail into the passport. Each mile has at least 3 or 4 code words. Words are located on lids and or logs along with the mile number. Once you have completed the trail and have your 52 code words you can receive your coin from the ACC&VB located at (GC2ZNZW). You may also Pick up coins at Shannons Mini Mart at the trail and RT 307. YOU MUST HAVE 52 WORDS TO RECEIVE COIN (First come first serve). See passports for more info. Additionally, when claiming your coin, you will be asked to complete a brief.
