Geocache Description:

This is a *Bonus* Cache to go along with the 2016 Sara-Cap NYS Parks Regional Geocache Challenge!

This off the hook cache will ring a few bells for some.  Most will see there is something missing and not quite right as you discover part of a more recent past.

The boat launch area of this historic site operated by NYS Office of Parks, Recreation, & Historic Preservation gets a lot of use so beware of muggles! BYOP

This location is part of Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site which is focused mostly on the Erie Canal but also on Fort Hunter and the Lower Castle Mohawk Village from the colonial era.

The waterways of the Schoharie Creek and Mohawk River have long been essential to communication and travel in the region – going back thousands of years.  The Erie Canal transported not just cargo and people, but ideas as well.

Enjoy the time you spend here on site, the miles of trails and access to the Schoharie Creek and Mohawk River.  Stop into the Visitor Center area if you have a chance - Located at 129 Schoharie Street, Fort Hunter, NY … er… we mean:
