James Allan Smart (June 6, 1858 – May 3, 1942) was a hardware merchant and man of politics in Manitoba. He was born in Brockville, Ontario and was educated in Woodstock. Smart came to Manitoba in 1880 and worked for a hardware company in Winnipeg until 1881. He operated his own hardware business in Brandon from 1881 to 1886.
Smart served on Brandon city council for one year from 1882 to 1883 and was city Mayor twice. This cache represents his second term - from 1895 to 1896.
Smart passed away in Montreal at the age of 83
