NTH Series 34 - Winter Olympics Traditional Cache

This particular stretch of road and the carpark at nearby Carrickatuke is the setting for the Newtownhamilton Winter Olympics which is held every few years when there is enough snow. It was first held in 1996 with 4 competitors taking place but had steadily grown. Various events include skiing while being towed by a car, lying on the ground while being towed by a car, sitting on a sledge while being towed by a car and many others involving snow. The road access right up to the carpark and its remote location make this the ideal venue for such activities and although there was no event in 2015, organisers are hoping for some decent snow in 2016 as there are medals to defend.
