Dutch Reformed Church in Jeffreys Bay

During 1969 the Dutch Reformed Church formed a new congregation in the little town of Jeffreys Bay. As a gift the congregation received the church hall in Da Gama rd, 3 plots and R6000 in cash from the Humansdorp congregation.
Services were held in the church hall.
Rev G Le Roux from Luckhoff was appointed as the first minister and Rev PS Bester, LJ Roos and CC Bond also preached here.
In 1994 Paradise Beach also got incorporated.
The first vicarige was completed in 1972. The church in Da Gama road was built at a cost of R140 000 and was inaugurated on 17 December 1977. The organ was purchased from the Frankfort congregation.
The youth camping area was opened in March 1980 and the Kompleks with 1200 seats was inaugurated on 20 November 1994.
Jeffreys Bay is renowned for its beautiful waves, sea shells and extraordinary climate and attracts lots of holiday makers, retired people and people who settles here for work.
Since 1986 the number of congregation members has grown significantly exceeding 4500.
5 ministers work here full time and 4 part time.
There are currently 3 buildings in use for services on Sunday's namely the Church in Da Gama rd, the Kompleks in Wavecrest and the hall (Die Ark) in Paradise Beach.
NG Gemeente Jeffreysbaai
In 1969 stig die nuwe gemeente van Humansdorp NG Gemeente af.
As bruidskat ontvang die gemeente die kerksaal in Da Gamaweg, drie erwe en R6 000 in kontant. Eredienste was in die kerksaal gehou.
Ds G le Roux van Luckhoff is as eerste predikant beroep en ds PS Bester, ds LJ Roos en ds CC Bond doen later diens in die gemeente.
In 1994 word Paradysstrand ook by die gemeente ingelyf.
Die eerste pastorie is in 1972 voltooi en die kerk in Da Gamaweg word teen `n koste van R140 000 gebou en op 17 Desember 1977 ingewy. Die orrel is van Frankfort gemeente gekoop. Die jeugkampterrein is in Maart 1980 en die Kompleks met 1 200 sitplekke is op 20 November 1994 ingewy.
Jeffreysbaai is alombekend vir die pragtige branders, skulpies en besondere klimaat. Dit lok natuurlik vakansiegangers, afgetredenes en toenemend mense wat in werkverband hulle hier kom vestig. Sedert 1986 groei die gemeentegetalle sterk tot die huidige 4 500 plus.
Tans werk hier vyf voltydse leraars en nog vier deeltyds.
Die gemeente gebruik tans drie geboue vir eredienste op Sondae nl. die kerkgebou in Da Gamastraat, die Kompleks in Wavecrest en die saal (Die Ark) in Paradysstrand.
