Geocache Description:

Rushing water, trees to the south and fields to the north -- there is plenty to take in while searching for this cache.

The Lamar Loop is 9 miles of new trail that will make recreation in Lamar safer, more affordable, easier to access and fun!  The Loop will connect 5 parks, 5 schools, 1 community college, 3 existing recreational facilities, and 3 existing trails. The majority of Lamar residents live within 1 mile of the Loop.  The Loop has been made possible through grant funding from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) and Healthy Places.

The cache is small, very well hidden and is not in plain site. It is just south of the Loop by only a few feet.  The view to the north are fields and North Gateway Park.  To the south is Riverside Cemetery, the oldest in town. The Lamar canal is usually full of water and fast flowing during the spring and summer.  Use caution around the canal and diversion dam.  During fall and winter when the water is low, shellfish shells can be found on the canal banks. Follow the Loop (and canal) to the west and end up at Escondido Park.  Following the Loop toward the east and winding around the prairie will lead back into town and Willow Creek Park.
