PT - A Barragem do Monte da Rocha fica situada no Baixo Alentejo, no concelho de Ourique, perto da localidade de Panóias. Nesta barragem existe um ralo enorme onde se efectua a descarga de água ,quando a cota da água atinge o seu máximo. Construída sobre o leito do Rio Sado, esta barragem entrou em funcionamento em 1972. A sua utilização é predominantemente agrícola. Perdida na parte ocidental do Baixo Alentejo, a barragem do Monte da Rocha tem merecido pouca atenção por parte dos ornitólogos. Contudo, esta zona tem um potencial ornitológico que merece ser destacado. Partindo de Ourique, toma-se a estrada nacional 123 em direcção a Odemira. Ao longo desta estrada existem, do lado esquerdo, diversos ninhos de cegonha-branca que merecem ser inspeccionados, pois servem de suporte à nidificação de diversos casais de pardal-espanhol, que aqui se misturam com o pardal-comum. A concentração mais interessante situa-se entre os km 53 e 52. Também do lado esquerdo aparece um pequeno açude, observável a partir da estrada, que é frequentado por frisadas, pernilongos e outras aves aquáticas. Prosseguindo pela estrada e virando à direita no primeiro cruzamento (EN 264-1), rapidamente se chega ao paredão da barragem, a partir de onde se obtém uma boa perspectiva sobre a albufeira. Durante a época de nidificação é habitual observar aqui o mergulhão-de-crista, a frisada, a perdiz-do-mar e o diversas espécies de fringilídeos. Levar material de escrita. EN - Enjoy nature. very nice area to spend beautiful moments. Local fairly quiet. The dam of Monte da Rocha is located in the Alentejo in Ourique municipality, near the Panóias location. This dam there is an enormous drain where the goods discharge water when water reaches the dimension of its maximum. Built on the bed of the River Sado, this dam began operating in 1972. Its use is predominantly agricultural. Lost in the western part of the Lower Alentejo, the dam of Monte da Rocha has received little attention from ornithologists. However, this area has an ornithological potential that deserves to be highlighted. Starting from Ourique, take the national road 123 towards Odemira. Along this road there are on the left, several white stork nests that deserve to be inspected, as they underpin the nesting of several couples sparrow-Spanish, here mingle with the common sparrow. The most interesting concentration is between km 53 and 52. Also on the left side appears a small weir, observable from the road, which is frequented by beaded, mosquitoes and other waterfowl. Along the road and turn right at the first intersection (EN 264-1), quickly reaches the dam wall, from where you get a good perspective on the bayou.
