Hidden near the beginning of an abandoned boardwalk trail. Bring a tweezers and writing utensil for the log, but it won't be hard to find. No need to head down towards the creek, cache is within 20 feet of the trail.
One of my favorite hiking trails on the island and you'll likely have it all to yourself as it has pretty much been abandoned by the Forest Service. The original trailhead was removed during the realignment of the Thorne Bay highway and now you need a little local knowledge to find it. Parking is available on a logging road pullout on the east side of the Rio Roberts Creek bridge. The start of the trail is on the west side of the bridge and can be spotted heading south into the woods right near the end of the bridge guardrail.
