Short Tradi near the road to the Hermitage San Michele
Dieser Cache findet sich gleich in der Nähe der Via S. Michele, die nach etwa 4 km Fußmarsch zur Klause San Michele führt. Das wahrscheinlich von den Langobarden auf einer Anhöhe angelegte Gebäude wirkt wie eine Festung. Hier wurden Keramikfragmente aus dem Hohen Mittelalter gefunden, die ebenso wie der Name der Kirche vermuten lassen, dass der Gebäudekomplex bereits im frühen Mittelalter errichtet wurde. Am 8. Mai und am 29. September wird hier das Fest des Erzengels Michael gefeiert. Einstmals zog im Monat Mai zu Beginn der verschiedenen Bergarbeiten (wie Holzschlag, Holzkohlegewinnung usw.) eine lange Prozession durch das Tal.
Bei der Rückkehr von der Klause bietet sich ein Abstecher zur nahegelegenen Landwirtschafts-Kooperative an, die neben schönen Picknickplätzen auch regionale Produkte wie (frische!) Milch, Käse und Salami anbietet.

This Cache is located near Via S. Michele, which after some 4 km walking leads to the Hermitage San Michele. According to one of the early, unsubstantiated theories about the origin of the little church of San Michele Arcangelo (one of the oldest in Tremosine), the church was built by the Lombards, who adopted the Archangel Michael as their patron saint after they converted to Christianity in the 8th century. However, St Michael was also the patron saint of people who worked with fire, e.g. charcoal-burners and blacksmiths, of whom there were a great many in the area in the past.
When returning from the hermitage be sure to visit the nearby agricultural cooperation which has nice picknick tables and also offers locals products like (fresh!) milk, cheese and Salami.
