[EN] Agnita (German: Agnetheln; Hungarian: Szentágota; Transylvanian Saxon dialect: Ongenîtlen) is a town on the Hârtibaciu river in Sibiu County, Transylvania.The first document mentioning it is a land sale contract signed in 1280 by one Henric from Sancta Agatha. In 1466, Matthias Corvinus granted to the village the right to carry trials (jus gladi) and built a fortress to defend the Kingdom of Hungary from the Ottoman Empire.
Here is one of the oldest peasant fortification in Transylvania. Initiated in the thirteenth century, it was amplified successively came to be in the seventeenth century, three fortified enclosure with towers. [RO] Agnita (în germană Agnetheln, în maghiară Szentágota, în traducere „Sfânta Agata sau Agnes”) este un oraş din judeţul Sibiu, Transilvania, atestat din 1280.
Aici se află una dintre cele mai vechi fortificaţii ţărăneşti saseşti din Transilvania. Iniţiată în secolul al 13-lea, ea a fost amplificată succesiv, ajungând sa aiba, în secolul al 17-lea, trei incinte întărite cu turnuri. În centrul cetaţii se află o biserică-hală evangelică cu trei nave (navele laterale cu tribune) şi turn vestic (1409). La rândul ei fortificată, biserica a suferit numeroase transformări. Cele patru turnuri ale bisericii fortificate – ale pantofarilor, croitorilor, fierarilor şi dogarilor –, demonstreaza forţa economicăa acestor bresle, ca şi faptul că aveau încredinţate spre apărare acele porţiuni de zid în caz de conflict armat.

Die evangelische Kirche, 1409 errichtet, ist eine gotische Hallenkirche die auf den Grundriss einer romanischen Kirche des 13. Jahrhunderts, errichtet wurde. Im 16. Jahrhundert wurde die Kirche zur Wehrkirche umgebaut. Mit den Wehrtürmen: Töpfer- (Torturm), Schmied- (im Osten), Schneider- (im Südosten) und der im Südwesten stehende Schusterturm im 15. Jahrhundert errichtet, steht die Kirchenburg unter Denkmalschutz. Allerdings wurden die Ringmauern im 19. Jahrhundert niedergerissen.

Nevét első temploma védőszentjéről, Szent Ágotáról vagy Szent Ágnesről kapta. A mai templomot Szűz Máriának szentelték.
Evangélikus erődtemplomát 1409-ben kezdték építeni, mai formáját nagyjából 1560-ban kapta. 1600-ban leégett. Egyik harangja 1509-bol való. Két külső falgyűrűjét 1845 és 1870 között lebontották, a négy torony kivételével: északon áll a Fassbinderturm ('Kádárok tornya') a csapórácsos kapuval, keleten a Schmiedturm ('Kovácsok tornya'), délkeleten a Schneiderturm ('Szabók tornya') és délnyugaton a Schusterturm ('Vargák tornya'). A templom szentélye fölötti védőemeletet 1892-ben bontották le.
