Oak Park now has a trailhead for the Monte Sano Land Trust trail system! Located on Oakwood Ave at the base of Chapman Mt and Monte Sano, Oak Park is a popular spot for soccer, baseball/softball, kickball and other recreations including a playground for the little cachers. With plenty of parking just make your way to the left-most bathroom/concession facility then keep on to the grassy area towards the back of the park and you will soon see the trailhead kiosk. While helping to build this trail my son found an ideal picnic spot a few feet off the trail with some large somewhat flat rocks just perfect for resting and enjoying the view. This is in the woods - so look out for spiders and other things that bite as well as poisonous plants. Please put it back where and how it was found.
The Oak Park Trail is about a mile long and meets up with the Bankhead trail, then onward (and upward) to the rest of the preserve!
