Geocache Description:

Clowes Wood is an area of mixed woodland managed by the Forestry Commission and open to the public. It is one of several woods in The Blean Woods complex that covers eleven square miles, to the north of Canterbury. In addition to the informal paths running through the woodland there are stony tracks that are reasonably accessible for visitors with wheelchairs and buggies. The Big Blean Walk, a 25 mile circular walk passes through Clowes Wood. The walk, combined with 18 new interpretive panels, promotes all the woods that are part of The Blean to visitors and locals, inviting people to explore a world of history and nature.

There are no toilets available but plenty of places to hide yourself away should the need arise! Watch out for cyclists, dog mess and joggers around the place. I advise bringing tweezers & a pen for some of the log books in the smaller caches. For further information please see the webpage http://explorekent.org/activities/clowes-wood/ Cache placed in accordance with the Forestry Commission East England agreement. The landowner (Forestry Commission East England) does not assess the suitability or safety of the cache location. The cache placer and the cache finder have a responsibility to take reasonable precautions to protect their own safety and the safety of others.
