Geocache Description:

You are looking for a camouflaged clip-lock box with room for a few small swaps. The main Herts Way route continues straight on at the crossroads, but do take the time to detour to your left to hear and read about the Ayot Greenway and the history of the disused railway line on which it lies.

Ayot Greenway Crossing

A group of cachers have gathered together to place caches along The Hertfordshire Way; a 194 mile circular route along public rights-of-way within the County of Hertfordshire. Rather than caches at every 0.1 mile we have tried to put together interesting hides.

Leg 4 stretches from Codicote to St. Albans for 12.6 miles. We advise that you bring sturdy boots for very muddy terrain and a high visibility vest with you because a couple of short sections require walking along the road.

To the Next Cache
Continuing along the main path will bring you to Wheathampstead where there are public toilets, as well as a lovely walk alongside the river Lea. The next batch of caches for Leg 4 will follow later in Summer 2016!
