The 650ha Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve, just 11km south of downtown Johannesburg, is an oasis of calm amid the bustle of the city. Among the largest nature reserves in the Johannesburg metropolitan area, Klipriviersberg (meaning “stone river mountain”) was proclaimed in 1984 to preserve the area’s rich biodiversity and archaeological sites.
The reserve is home to more than 600 plant and 150 bird species. Zebra, red hartebeest, black wildebeest, blesbok, duiker, springbok and mountain reedbuck roam freely in the reserve.
The cache is hidden along the Bloubos Trail (Blue on the Reserve Map). I had to hide this cache a few meters off of the main trail so as to avoid it being spotted by passer-bys. In time this container is sure to blend much better into the environment, but for now I think it should be a rather easy find.
The hike up to the cahce is between 2km - 3km, depending from which side you choose to approach the cache from. Along your hike you will also be able to find some older caches hidden in the reserve including a "Star-Gate" (+/- 300m from this cache) and one of the oldest caches in South Africa which was hidden on 15 November 2001. So come make a day of your visit to the reserve, bring along some snacks and some refreshments.
The cache primary container, is made from a what one can call a gift from mother nature herself. Some may know the story of my TB Hotel being crushed by falling tree branches... Well let's just say these came in handy... Please ensure that the primary container is properly closed when replacing the cache, and please handle with care.

Reason for D2.5 / T2.0 Rating:
The cache is located a mere 3km or so from the main entrance, along the main Bloubos Trail. This is a gentle hike and walkers of all fitness levels should be able to make the hike to GZ with relative easy. Since the recent heavy rains the container has become somewhere more blended into the environment, and may require a little extra time to find the container housing, hence the increased difficulty from 2.0 to 2.5.(Estimated distances and gradients are calculated from the main entrance).
