West Branch State Park in Portage County is home to a 2,650-acre lake that is designated for unlimited horsepower. Five launch raps provide access to all parts of the lake. There are also two boat swimming areas. West Branch also offers year-round fishing, available by 2 gravel and 3 paved launch areas, along with numerous shoreline locations thorough out the park. The park also offers 2 disc golf courses, an 18-hole course located near the beach and a 9-hole course can be found near the campground area. Discs and bags can be rented for a refundable deposit. Hunting is allowed in certain areas of the park. West Branch also hosts 6 picnicking areas situated in scenic areas around the lake. The park features a 700-foot sand beach too. West Branch also features more than 14 miles of scenic hiking trails. A family campground offers 155 electric, 14 non-electric and 29 full service campsites as well. Lastly, there are 6 loops providing 12 miles of mountain biking off of Cable Line Road. During the winter months, visitors can enjoy cross-country skiing, ice fishing, ice boating, and snowmobiling.
