Welcome to the Shenango River Water Trail, a one of a kind geotrail featuring 100 caches placed along the beautiful Shenango River. What a better way to cache and be one with nature than a casual float down river. Become one with the outdoors and let Mother Nature guide you to a relaxing adventure.
This event will be a kickoff event to un-officially start the forth and final leg of the water trail. So we invite you to do your best good weather dances so we’ll have sunny skies and come out on July 9th from 10am – 5pm for some fun, food and floating of course!!! SO BRING YOUR CANOE OR KAYAK!
The plan will be to meet at GZ for the event. At around 10:15 the cache containers for the trail will be presented so you know what to look for and what to do once you've found the caches. At around 10:30 we'll start to depart from New Hamburg. You’ll then float on down the beautiful Shenango River to whats referred to as Big Bend. The total estimated time of float is 3-4 hours depending on how you chose to paddle between caches.
Once you’re done floating we invite you to join us back at GZ to talk caching and whatnot. There will be two options to get back to New Hamburg to hang out. 1) you can arrange transport of you and your kayak yourself, which can be from a friend or your own vehicle or 2) you can arrange for a shuttle from one of us or our friends who are offering a shuttle service back up to New Hamburg. If not floating and want to just hang out at the event, there will be people at GZ for the event throughout the day and you're more than welcome to just hang out and talk caching.

Also if you go to the Facebook page you'll notice a new game board for the trail in order to earn your coin. If you've done parts of the trail already BRING YOUR CODE WORDS as we'll honor them with that many CODE LETTERS for the new game board. So if you have 10 CODE WORDS, we'll give you 10 CODE LETTERS and so on.
