Situata nella parte Ovest del perimetro esagonale delle mura cinquecentesche di Prato, Porta Pistoiese dà l’accesso a via San Vincenzo che la collega a Piazza San Domenico. Fu realizzata tra il 1315 e 1325 in alberese con mattoni di forme gotiche di gusto senese. Fra le Porte di accesso alla città di Prato, fra le più eleganti all’ interno della sua cinta muraria, è sicuramente Porta Pistoiese. Costruita in stile Gotico, è ingresso ad una parte di Prato volontariamente più nascosta, quella che custodisce monasteri e chiese inaspettate. E’ in via San Vincenzo che sono nati, agli inizi del ‘500 due monasteri: il Monastero Benedettino di San Clemente sul lato sinistro della strada e il Monastero di San Vincenzo, sul lato destro.
