The organization that is known as 4H began as the "Boys Agricultural Clubs" and the "Girls Home Culture Club" in 1902. The early youth club programs emphasized skills needed for farming and homemaking. 4-H soon broadened the topics offered in these rural settings. Today, there is a wide variety of projects consisting of everything from forestry, health, food safety and nutrition, livestock, arts and crafts, and yes even geocaching. The variety of projects and activities developed over the years continues to increase in response to the interests and needs of youth as well as leadership and citizenship activities emphasized for youth. These 4Hers pledge their Head to clearer thinking, their Heart to greater loyalty, their Hands to larger service, and their Health to better living, for their club, their community, their country, and their world.
With their interest in leaving a better planet, this 4H office is in a repurposed elementary school that educated thousands of students until the consolidation of the county schools in 2012. 4H moved in continuing to educate children in life skills and healthier living.
While looking for the cache, there is no need to walk into any gardens or planted areas. Please do not damage the crops planted by our 4H Garden Club. Please DO take in the history of this place of learning that even today in its new state is Making the Best Better.
