Geocache Description:

Slayer (My husband Adam) and I (Sublime AKA Joey) were kicking around the idea of creating a series. When spit-balling ideas Slayer suggested a series showcasing the zany way we got together. So we created this series to allow others to follow the adventure of our love story.

This is a highlight of the particular events that brought us together.

The series has matching themed “camo”. Not what you would expect for the wild, but it is wild.

This is how SlayerMeetsSublime Stop # 5-B:  Chicken is so vanilla, THANKFULLY

Slayer asked me (Sublime) to go to dinner.  I accepted.

He drove out to pick me up and we pulled out of the drive way while starting the discussion with “Where do you wanna go?”  This conversation is one that I am positive Slayer and I have had no less than 1,000,000,000,000 times since then.

The end of the first ever where should we eat debacle ended in a night of hilarity.  And a pretty cool first date story for a couple who ended up staying together.  Cause it was kind of disastrous!

Somehow we settled on a restaurant inside the Vernon Hills mall that is no longer around called John’s Garage.  I had gone to this mall when I was a little girl and could remember thinking that restaurant with the gas pumps outside of it would be so cool to go to.  But adult Sublime still had never been there.  And still to this day (and never will since its gone - LOL) hasn’t actually eaten there.  Slayer on the other hand had eaten there many times as he and his family frequented the establishment.

We went inside, got a table, looked over the menu, and left.  For whatever reason neither one of us was interested in what they had to offer that night.  So we paid for the drinks and took off.

Back to the truck.  Back on the road.  And back to that question.  Where should we eat?

This time we decided on a place in Kenosha, WI.  Another thing in our relationship that is still prevalent today.  We like to drive together.  Everywhere.  That is part of what we enjoy about caching.  The drives we take to new places.

On the way to Kenosha, WI from Vernon Hills, IL we decided to take the tollway.  Now this is in the first stages of the debit card not cash world and before I-Passes became a necessity for any Illinoisan.  So were headed down the tollway when we reach a toll.  Neither of us had any actually silver change. And it wasn’t an operated toll so no humans available.  We ended up dumbing an ashtray full of pennies into the booth hoping we had gotten close to the total of the fee.

We got to our destination and enjoyed a nice uneventful dinner together.

This wacky date was the beginning of SlayerMeetsSublime.
