Geocache Description:

Photo via The (Martinsburg, W.Va.) Journal

Work began on James Hite Park, Jefferson County's newest public park, in the spring of 2015. When it is completed, the park is set to include baseball, softball, soccer and football fields; basketball and tennis courts; tot lots and playgrounds; a skate park; a dog park; a mini golf course and supporting facilities.

The first public facility in the park, a 2-mile walking trail, has been officially opened for the summer of 2016. In celebration of that, we have hidden six geocaches along the trail.

Each cache is a small plastic container just a few steps off the trail. None are meant to be difficult finds; rather, they are designed to allow you to experience a nice walk in a fresh, new public space.

Work is expected to continue on the park in the months and years to come. Please be aware of any construction activity you may encounter while enjoying the trail.

The caches are numbered 1-6, but can be completed in any order.

Good luck, and happy caching!

NOTE: THE GATE WILL LIKELY BE CLOSED. JEFFERSON COUNTY PARKS & REC HAS CONFIRMED THE TRAIL IS OPEN, THOUGH. PARK NEAR THE ENTRANCE AND FEEL FREE TO WALK AROUND THE GATE.
