Geocache Description:

A mini-series of 3 caches that take you along part of the beach at Middleton-on-Sea and Elmer. Number 1 is wheelchair accessible; recommended parking is at Jubilee Playing Fields, waypoint provided; parking on the local estates is very restricted.

#3 in a mini-series of beach caches.

This third cache is near the "rock islands" which form part of the sea defences for Elmer, which cost £5.5 million and were finished in September 1993. They comprise huge granite blocks to create 8 islands which break up the power of the waves, and tons of pebbles deposited at the top of the beach (making this Pebble Dash such fun!) dredged from off Portsmouth - unfortunately with a fair amount of ordnance which then livened up beach walks, requiring calls for safe disposal as it came to the surface. While the rock islands create fascinating pools for dipping and discovering mini-beasts, there are warnings about climbing on the rocks themselves as the islands are cut off at high tide and can be slippery. Please take care if you explore the islands.

Please use stealth when searching for and replacing the cache.  Please bring your own pen and just remove the cache lid (don't drop it!) to sign the log. Secure the lid carefully and replace the cache as found, thank you!
